Summer Camp 2007 The summer of 2007 was unexpectedly life changing. At the beginning of the summer my friend Katie began to invite me to Soul Central, a youth gathering at Wave Church. I was extremely skeptical from the start. I would constantly come up with excuses to get out of attending this youth group. By the end of July I was running out of excuses. I decided that I would go the first saturday in August. Unbelieveably the moment I stepped into Wave, I loved the atmosphere of the place. Everyone at Soul Central was extremely welcoming. That night, the leading youth pastor announced the church was holding summer camp at Lake Gaston, NC. I immediately signed up. Two weeks later I was on a bus with Katie, on my way to Lake Gaston. The four days spent at summer camp were so exhilarating. The days were spent wakeboarding, banana boating, ropes course, and each night ending with praise and worship. On my last night of summer camp, at the end of praise and worship, the team of youth pastors offered a baptism opportunity in the lake. I made the decision to go with Katie. The baptism was very special to me, because growing up as a kid I was not brought up on going to church every sunday. In the moment right after my baptism I realized my life was changing for the better in extreme ways.
